A building constructed in the 1920s with it's own unique history as a hub for journalists like Emily Hahn. Daring writers and adventurers who's work would be among the last reports out of pre-WWII China.

This YouTube series covers each step of the progress I make in recreating the Shanghai Bund as it appeared in 1936. Along the way I additionally explain the history of concession era Shanghai, given that the history of each building or architectural precedent, can't be divorced from the craft of putting together a real life environment that is so rich in history.
